Yeah, medical insurance is a monster we like to avoid. Statistically, health care costs would be cheaper if health complications were addressed sooner rather than later through preventative screenings, but who has the time or money to do THAT for every little problem?
Some people go years, even decades without seeing a doctor for one reason or another, but it's most likely because they cannot afford it. Others may have been turned away from quality health care, or had a terrible experience through the health care system that ruined their faith in the system.
Living in the lovely Washington state has many perks aside from heavenly scenic trails and damn good coffee. We also live in one of the few states who took health care reform by the horns and made the best possible health program in the nation. With Apple Health, free health insurance, over 250,000 people who previously did not have health insurance are now 100% covered with 0 responsibilities over costs.
The dedicated staff at the BCCHP can screen for Apple Health eligibility and assist with Apple Health enrollment. You can do it yourself with the following website:
www.wahealthplanfinder.org/
Apple Health enrollment is open all year, unlike private individual plans that are open only for a brief period of time. Clicking on the link "Apply for Health Insurance" directly takes you to the Apple Health application. If you are accepted into the free Apple Health plan the website will "congratulate" you for getting your new policy. If you are NOT accepted into Apple Health the website will "congratulate" you for qualifying for a tax credit that lowers the cost of health insurance plans.
In addition to application assistance, BCCHP staff are also able to assist with navigating the health care delivery system for all persons new to their health insurance plan, or simply need guidance in finding community resources. Should there be an issue with your health care application that has your application rejected from Apple Health, or you are experiencing difficulties with your application please call the number below to speak to a BCCHP staff member who will help you.
